He holds a bachelor's degree from UW-Eau Claire in Saxophone Performance with a Recording Arts certificate, under the teaching of Dr. Alastair Wright, Dr. Aaron Hedenstrom, Dr. Michael Shults, and Lena Sutter (Bon Iver, Shure Microphones). While at school, he spent several semesters in the composition studio of Dr. Chia-Yu Hsu.
As a performer, he has played with a variety of groups, including award-winning jazz ensembles, wind ensembles, saxophone quartets, pit orchestras, cover bands, and symphony orchestras. His main instrument is saxophone, but also has experience performing on clarinet, flute, bass clarinet, and piano.

As a soloist, Thomas has performed notably as a featured student soloist at the 2019 Regional NASA Conference at the University of Minnesota. While playing tenor with the Sarcoline Saxophone Quartet, he performed as a winner of the UW-Eau Claire orchestra concerto competition, on a recording of NPR’s trivia panel show, “Says You!” and won the WI state level in the MTNA chamber music competition.

Thomas is currently the audio editor for The Arrangers Podcast, hosted by Dr. Aaron Hedenstrom and Dr. Drew Zaremba. He also recently finished an internship at the recording studio at the Pablo Center in Eau Claire with Lena Sutter.
He is currently freelancing as a composer/arranger, audio engineer, and performer.
